Welcome to AMSEM
Advanced Marine animals & Snake Envenomation Management (AMSEM) International Symposium was synthesised following the demand and the pressing need for a more comprehensive session and platform, to share, discuss and debate on issues of relevance and related to toxins/venom and poisoning/envenoming from marine animals and snakes in Southeast Asia (ASEAN). This unique event is proudly organised by Remote Envenomation Consultancy Services (RECS) @ MST in collaboration with various prominent institutions and organisations. AMSEM highlights the efforts in various areas of Research Toxinology and Clinical Toxinology. This symposium offers interactive talks, forums, and practical sessions by prominent international faculty and advisory members who are experts in their fields. AMSEM aspires to bring together various scientists and clinicians in the field of toxinology (biologists, taxonomists, pharmacologists, pharmacists, and clinicians, etc.), and to encourage the sharing of information and the bridging of knowledge and experience gaps.
AMSEM will benefit postgraduate students, biologists, toxicologists, toxinologists, paramedics, junior and senior medical officers, specialists/consultants, medical lecturers, pharmacists, poison centre officers, related scientists, veterinarians and interested individuals. The open and friendly nature of AMSEM ensures sufficient opportunities for interaction with all faculty members. It is aspired that this meeting of experts and symposium serves as a viable platform for advancing Research Toxinology & Clinical Toxinology in Southeast Asia (ASEAN).
AMSEM International Symposium covers the following areas of research: Toxinology & Clinical Toxinology:
- Identification of various marine animals & snakes of medical importance in ASEAN countries.
- Physiology, Pharmacology and Molecular Biology of venom and antivenom.
- Prehospital, emergency and definitive treatment strategy for envenoming and poisoning from marine animals & snakes.
- Networking and support for optimal treatment of envenomed patients.
- Highlighting and resolving issues about envenomation as a neglected tropical disease.
